at HEDO 10^th Anniversary and Seminar on Education - Science - Health and Poverty Abolition Development in Highland on 28^th March 2000

Comrades and friends,

On the occasion of the 10^th Anniversary of HEDO foundation, we combine to hold the Workshop on Education - Science - Health Development and Poverty Abolition in Highland and Ethnic Minority areas. On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training as one of 3 sponsor ministries, I warmly welcome and sincerely thank to distinguished delegates, comrades and friends.

In the past ten years, HEDO has been mobilizing friends in the world, and combining with Ministries, branches and leaders of local authority to fulfil effectively over 70 project with over 20 billion VND while they get no financial support from Government. That is a considerable endeavor and achievement. It has showed that HEDO has made creative use of the renovate and open policy of our Party and State, and the direction of the 3 sponsor ministries on the development of education - science - health and poverty abolition which response to demands of national industrialization and modernization.

The majority of projects implemented by HEDO are in the remote and mountainous areas, revolutionary base zones ethnic minority areas which they have been meeting many difficulties and hardship. Therefore HEDO has quickly received cooperation, supports, encouragement and respectful from friends in the world, leader of Ministries and national branches, especially leaders of administration levels and people in localities.

HEDO has been accepted for membership of 5 international and regional organizations sponsored by the United Nations and ASEAN, and having relationship with hundred of organization from Governments and NGOs of 45 countries which are mainly thankful of HEDO’s good results of activities and confidence in the support and the development of education, science, health and hungry abolition and poverty reduction in the mountainous and ethnic minority areas in the past ten years. It may be to say that HEDO has become a bridge between localities of Vietnam and International Organizations and Vice versa.

 

On behalf of the Ministry for education Training , I warmly commend HEDO’s achievements in the past ten years. Wishing for HEDO to develop successful lessons, overcome remaining for weakness, continue to server better and further, respond to aspiration, confidence and affection of countrymen and children in the mountainous and ethnic areas of friends in the country and of friends in the world.
