Awards
for individuals who have contributed to the development of
the education of Vietnam, especially in the poor remote ethnic
minority areas
To carry
out the policies of the Government and the Ministry of Education
and Training of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam about commendation
of the community and individuals at home and abroad who have
contributed to the development of the education of Vietnam, especially
in the poor remote ethnic minority areas.
The Highland
Education Development Organisation (HEDO Vietnam) has proposed
to commend the 4 people, and all of them has approved by the
government of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Education and Training
and they have come to Hanoi, come to the National Assembly at
Ba Dinh square to receive the noble medals and awards from the
President of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet and the Minister of Ministry
of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan ( Now he is Deputy
Prime Minister) :

Biography
- Mr.
Len Aldis- General Secretary of the Britain- Vietnam Friendship
Society, UK Nationality, Homeland- London.
He has
cooperated with HEDO since 1992. He has written many newspaper
articles to introduce about the mountainous provinces, about
HEDO especially about the development of education in the Highland.
Calling for the international organisation and foreigners to
support the education for ethnic minority people in Vietnam.
HEDO has received many projects from the individuals and organisations
from the United Kingdom due to those articles, many of them were
printed in the “ Morning Star” London.
Especially,
according to HEDO requests, He directly called for and sent HEDO
35 volunteer English Teachers who came to teach in the Language
center in the mountainous ethnic minority provinces for 2 years
without salary. If counting minimum for a month of a teacher:

pound/month x 18 month x 35 teachers = 1.260.000 pounds
( One
million, two hundreds and sixty thousand sterling pounds)
Equivalent
to 30 billion VND
The beneficiaries
from this project are: Kontum, Gia Lai, Daclak, Dong Nai, Vung
Tau, Nam Dinh, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai from 1995 to 2003.
Besides
that he has launched in the website to call for signatures of
English people and people in the world asking USA to compensate
for the Victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam.

Margaret Methley: UK Nationality, Coventry City, high school
teacher. Chairwoman of the Medical Scientific Aid for Vietnam,
Lao and Cambodia.
- Dr.
Madeleine Sharp: UK Nationality, Coventry City, Doctor in hospital,
General secretary of the Medical Scientific Aid for Vietnam,
Lao and Cambodia.
The two
ladies have propagandize English people to grant money for training volunteer
community healthcare workers, volunteers for population and family
planning, village volunteer nurses for ethnic minority areas
from 1992 to 2007: 1.700 people in which there are 500 people
who are teachers in the Highland, isolated, remote areas costing
about 200.000 USD ( Two hundred thousands USD) equivalent to
3 billions VND.
The beneficiaries
from this project are: Hoa Binh, Ha Tay, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang,
Lang Son, Yen Bai.
Mrs. Margaret
Methley and Dr. Madeleine Sharp are the people to support Vietnam
in the American war, who invited the Vice-state president of
Vietnam Madam. Nguyen Thi Binh to come to the UK and collect
money to buy medicines, books and notebooks to help the south
liberation troops and children.
Dr. Madeleine
Sharp was given the title “ The UK typical lady”
4. Dr.
Marie Charles: American Lady, New York City- PhD in Medication-
Community doctor, Chairperson of the International Committee
for Equal Healthcare Access.
She has
propagandized the International NGOs, hospitals, professors in
the USA universities, United Kingdom, Brazil, Singapore to support
HEDO to open training workshop for HIV/AIDS and drug injection
prevention in the mountainous ethnic minority areas, especially
in schools.
They have
supported to train 1.000 doctors for HIV/AIDS prevention for
provinces: Lang Son, Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, Cao Bang,
Bac Giang costing about 100.000 USD ( One hundred thousand dollars)
equivalent to 1 billion and 5 hundreds million VND.
On the
occasion of coming to Hanoi to receive the noble awards this
time, these organizations: Britain- Vietnam Friendship Society
(BVFS), Medical Scientific Aid for Vietnam- Lao- Cambodia (MSA.V.L.C)
and International Committee for Equal Healthcare Access (ICEHA)
have come to HEDO’s office, No 4 Trinh Hoai Duc, Hanoi to sign
projects to continue their supports to doctors in Bac Giang province,
Dien Bien and other 5 provinces to open workshops for enhancing
arguing knowledge, experience about diagnosis, prevention and
care for HIV/AIDS patients, prevention of drug and the training
for 100 doctors of Bac Giang at the end of 2007 or early 2008.
