HIV/AIDS Prevention Workshop held in Lang-Son

In response to HIV/AIDS prevention campaign launched by Vietnamese Government and United Nation, Highland Education-Science-Health Development Organization (HEDO), International Center for Equal Health Access (ICEHA) cooperated with Langson Health Service to organized "Training Workshop on Diagnosis, Treatment and Care for HIV-infected people" in Langson city (for 3 days from 23rd to 25th August 2003), with participants from representative of branches and 80 doctors of the province.

At the workshop, Vietnamese and foreign professors specialising in HIV treatment including Prof. Nguyen Viet Co - Chairman of Vietnamese Tuberculosis Association, Prof. Dr. Brian Gazzard - Chairman of British AIDS Association and Prof. Dr. Mauro Schechter - elected to be Chairman of World AIDS Conference in 2004 gave lectures. During the training workshop, participants are taugt about Basic Biology of HIV; Common Clinical Syndromes of HIV; TB and HIV; treatment and prevention of opportunistic infection; Drug abuse and HIV; HIV prevention in Vietnam etc,.

The success of the initial training workshop in Langson has proven the great effort of organizers especially HEDO staff who has been making useful contribution to people in mountainous, remote and isolated areas of Vietnamese over the past years.
