in remote mountainous provinces focusing on charity fundraising
to implement community & child care, hunger eradication & poverty
reduction, prevention-of-drug-abuse-and-disease projects especially
for poorest ethnic minority people.

British
Ambassador HM Mark A.G Kent paid a working visit to
Highland Education Development Organization ( HEDO Vietnam)
On April 28th 2008, the HM British Ambassador Mark A.G Kent
and his wife visit HEDO’s office at No 4 Trinh Hoai Duc,
Hanoi. The Ambassador would like to support HEDO in the coming
years to widen and strengthen the relationship and cooperation
with many more organizations in the UK, and the British Embassy
will directly pay attention to support and promote organizations
in the UK to have more projects especially projects on education
and training that in “ The Britain- Vietnam joint declaration” that
was emphasized by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Prime
Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung. Detail>>

Overseas activities:
In August 2008, five HEDO’s students will come to study
in the United Kingdom of those four students will study Bs
and one will be in diploma program. Four undergraduate students
will receive scholarship from 30% to 50% from the university.
HEDO’s up-coming and looking-for-funding projects:
1. In June 2008, HEDO is carrying out the project of training
100 traditional midwives to become modern midwives for Tua
Chua district, Lai Chau province funded by Medical and Scientific
Aid for Vietnam, Lao and Combodia (MSA.V.L.C).
2. In October, HEDO will implement the 2 projects to train
50 doctors for Lai Chau and coordinate with the International
Center for Equal Healthcare Access (ICEHA) to train 50 doctors
for Dien Bien province funded by ICEHA and St Stephen’s
AIDS Trust.
HEDO and British Embassy seek cooperation in micro-projects:
- Project on building school and computer equipment for scientific
research and training for Muong Pon secondary school, Dien
Bien district, Dien Bien province.
- Project on upgrading Chu Van Thinh primary school in Hat
Lot town- Mai Son district, Son La province.

1. HEDO and ICEHA shall co-ordinate to carry out another advanced
training workshop for doctors on HIV/AIDS diagnosis, treatment and
care in Cao Bang province. This is an ethnic minority region which
has high rate of HIV infected people.
2. HEDO has signed an agreement minute with Vietnam Assistance for
the Handicapped (VNAH/ HealthEd) to build 6 schools and 10 wells
of clean water for each Kontum province and Daklak province.
3. HEDO and Thai Nguyen University is going to sign minute to help
Nari district, Bac Kan province, a mountainous & minority region,
in poverty reduction and social – economic development for
the period 2006 – 2010
4. Under the invitation of Regional Network for Indigenous People
(RNIP) to attend training workshop on agro forestry in the Philippines
in July.
5. To attend the Drug abuse prevention conference organised by International
Federation of Non-government Organizations ASEAN (IFNGO ASEAN) in
December in Thailand.
6. To attend the 3rd Annual National Scientific Conference of the
Vietnam Public Health Association (VPHA) in December
7. Galilee College, Israel, invites HEDO to attend the International
Health System Management Program in November.
8. To visit and work with British – Vietnamese Friendship Society & Medical
and Scientific Aid for Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia (MSA – VLC)
in the UK.
9. To send a number of staffs and students of minority groups or
Kinh people to attend short and long term course in the UK, India,
America, the Philippines, Thailand, Czech Republic, Israel...
